I have a 99 Chevy Silverado, 4.8 V8 and about a month ago, my compressor went out. I had it and the accumulator replaced. It cooled for a couple of weeks and now it will only cool for about five minutes. The compressor seams to not be turning on. I thought it was the clutch cycling switch on the accumulator, because I could remove the wiring harness and install a jumper and it would kick on. So I replaced the switch and now the compressor will not switch on. Once again, I tried the jumper, still nothing. I have a low pressure gauge and it is showing a reading of 65. Any help would be greatly appreciated

When you jump the switch and the compressor kicks on, does it cool?

Yes, it cools about 5 minutes then quits. Yesterday, it kick on and off as normal, with normal gauge readings, the quit. I jumped it once again and could not get it to kick on at all.

Did you flush the system out when you changed everything? Sounds like you may have trash in the system causing the high side switch to ground out and not allow the system to turn on due to high pressure. Did you do the work, or a shop? It could also actually be over charged causing the same condition, but my -guess- without looking at it is a blockage.
