Can Extended Warrenty Be Void?

I phoned the extended warrenty company but they wouldn't give me a straight answer.  All they would say is that it's possible.

I went from the stock 235/75/15 to 31"/10.5/15.

The speedo and odometer are off now by 9%.

I still have the stock tires - I was thinking if there was a problem at one dealership I could just put the stockers back on and take it to anouther dealer.

If you want to change your speedo, the Hypertech Power Programmer III allows you to adjust for tire changes. As far as the warranty goes, I am not sure. I have read before that there is a law that states something to the effect of, that if you add aftermarket accessories your factory warranty cannot be voided. But they may have a case if you accessories cause the damage that would otherwise be covered under the warranty. But in your case you are dealing with an extended warranty, so I am not sure if different rules apply with the extended warranty. From my experience it is much easier to get claims through GM on extended warranties than it is under the factory warranty. Maybe because they charge so much for them, they can afford not to put up that big of a fight. I will search around if I have some time and see if I can find that law.

If you still have the stockers and it is no problem swapping them for a trip to the dealer, do it to avoid any possible hassle.

 

It must be proved the bigger tires caused the problem, but IMO, avoiding a hassle like that would be the way to go

The burden of proof is not on you in this case.

 

By federal law,the only way your warranty can be voided due to the installation of non factory equipment is if that equipment can be proven without a doubt to be the direct cause of the malfunction in question,period.

 

You may have to fight more to have the repair done but unless the mods can be proven to be the cause of the malfunction they have to honor the warranty.
