Navigation (aftermarket) Install 2006 Sierra

I am considering installing an aftermarket Nav into my 2006 Sierra Denali and wanted to get some opinions of those who have one installed with a similar interior/dash. I attached a picture of what my dash looks like.

I wanted to know where is the best spot for the Nav. I want to put it up top where the radio is but hesitant since the screen is slanted towards the driver and the passanger might not have a good view of the screen. If I put it below where the disc changer is, it might be too low.

Thoughts?

are you looking to install a new radio, or just looking for a good place to put a portable gps unit?

If a new radio is in your budget, check out some Clarion stuff. I have the NX409 and I love it. I bought it off ebay for about 1/3 of the orignial price.

I want to install a in-dash gps/radio but don't know where to put it. I looked up your radio and its about the same size as the unit I want to get from Kenwood.

I just posted this last night and should have looked in the A/V topic and would've seen your post...I assume you put your new radio where the old one was before. How is the view from the passenger side? I'm only asking because I want to know if the passenger has a weird view of the screen since its slanted towards the driver. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

my mom drives a '06 denali xl with the factory nav and viability from the passenger side isn't too too bad, although I wouldn't want to watch a movie from that angle for long periods..

I drive an sle, not a slt or denali, so the dash is more straighter without the center console.

Thanks rob for the input. Thats what i was afraid of. If I end up having a movie on I would want my passenger (usually the wife) to be able to watch the movie while Im driving. I might have to put another screen somewhere in front if I do go that route.

honestly, you will probably never use the radio for watching movies. It's more of a "hey look what my radio can do" thing. Unless you were to install rear monitors for the kids, i wouldn't bother getting it for the dvd function.

...but that's just me.
