changed front diff fluid, changed transfer case fluid, changed trans fluid. I have not changed rear diff yet but it has history as being low on fluid at oil changes. No sign of leakage. What can be humming in rear diff??

no need to double post in 2 different places.

humming is from the diff being out of spec .

it has to be checked by a qualified tech , and set up properly,

my old truck humms abit but it does not bother me,it has 495k KM on it

change the oil in it (which will NOT fix the noise ) and get an estimate for a check of back lash etc from a shop.

i'd like to hear what other guys think ,

a road test from a tech is also a good beginning step

Thank You for the reply, you indicated that the diff being out of spec?? What does this mean?

the set up MAY be off or worn to the point that its now making abit of noise .

i think alittle hum is not going to blow up the diff .

but have a tech road test it or a shop foreman from a dealer drive it with you ,do that first
