4 Wheel Drive Switch Won't Light Up

I have 1999 Silverado and the lights on the 4 wheel drive switch won't light up and the truck will not go into 4 wheel. In the past, I have had the switch not change into 4 wheel or 2 wheel until you press it a couple of times. Does this sound like a fuse or switch problem moreso than a solenoid/mechanical problem? Is there any way to test the switch before buying a new one? Thanks...

If it were me I would try the switch first. Sounds like that is probably what the problem is. I'm sure some other guys on the board will voice their opinions soon though.
