4l60e Question

The vehicle is a 1999 Bravada with AWD. it has the 4.3 engine and the 4L60E trans in it.

 

last week my ex wife ran over a large rock and busted the sidewalls in two tires. As I was helping her change them I noticed that the transmission cross member had rusted away and broken and hanging down below the truck. The trans was now sitting on the tail shaft being supported by another frame part. I promptly ordered the new cross member and installed it, along with a new transmission mount last Friday. While I was doing the work and unbolting the drivers side, I didn't realize that there was a wire harness attached to it, so when the part fell, it pulled on the wires.

 

My problem now is that the truck doesn't seem to want to shift out of second gear. When you start from a stop, it takes off fine, but once it hits 25-30 it just doesn't want to go any faster and you have to push harder on the pedal to go anywhere.

 

I'm wondering if those wires that ran along the cross member on the drivers side of the transmission and up to the trans controlled one of the shift solenioids? As best I can tell, those are the only wires that ran along the support and up to the trans. I know that I didn't pinch a shift cable or anything else between the transmission when I re-installed the support. (though I guess I could have pinched a wire with a bolt since I was working blind under there.) I haven't gone back under yet because I want to be armed with as much info as possible so I don't have to keep raising and lowering the truck and changing into the grubby clothes.

 

Also FWIW I have the factory service manuals and for whatever reason, they do not show the harness connection points which seems really odd to me. Unless I am looking in the wrong section?

at first i was thinking ' a blown fuse ' but i don't recall a trans related fuse

so i googled ' 4L60E electrical connections '

Well it seems to be shifting but the RPMs only drop by about 200-300 when it shifts. Sometimes you really have to give it gas and the truck really doesn't want to move. Something is wrong, but not sure what. I found that the trans appeared over full, so I siphoned out 2 quarts of fluid. Didn't really make a difference. The odd part is that this just started happening after the rock was hit. I'm wondering if the replacement tires are just enough different that the truck wants to be in AWD all the time. I also noticed that it is sitting over an inch lower on the front passenger side and the wheels are misaligned, so I'm thinking that something is messed up. Maybe that has something to do with the problems. Oh well.

since you replaced two tires have the same tires on one axle

if you have differant diameter tires on one axle each side will spin at a differant speed

which may affect be sensors that control AWD/traction control
