Shifting Into Neutral?

I am driving a 2010 silverado. When slowing down to speeds of 5-10 mph. It feels like the truck shifts into neutral. When I accelerate it jerks back into gear. I am not sure its actually shifting into neutral, but it feels like it. Is this normal? Does anyone else experience this problem?

Chances are it is actually dropping back into low gear. Low gear by design free wheels on decelleration when not in the L or 1 position on the shifter (manual low). When in manual low there is a band applied to the drum that applies engine braking. When in auto mode and the trans downshifts to low gear, the band is not applied and only the overrunning clutch is used to create the low gear. That clutch will freewheel when driven from the other side (like on decel).

This could possibly be the infamous slip yoke clunk. I had the same feeling and I went to the dealership thinking that I was losing 1st gear in the tranny. The trans guy drove it and he said it was the slip yoke in the trans sticking under braking and then popping back in under acceleration. They greased the slip yoke and the problem was gone. Does this happen accelerating from a stop also?
