Lt265/70/17 "c" Tire Pressure

About to replace my 40,000 mile Dueler A/T 693 tires on my '05 Z-71 (currently the factory P265/70/17).....My door sticker says to run the P-series tire at 35psi, but curious if 35psi would be OK to run on load range "C" in the same size, when just running empty. I know that they should be inflated to 50psi to attain their maximum load rating (for me, that's when I'm towing); I've found the P-series to be a little squishy when towing my 4500lb travel trailer. I'm looking at Cooper Discoverer ATR's in the load range C. Interestingly enough, the Coopers in the P-series have a "115" load rating vs. the "113" on my Duelers, maybe I'd notice the difference without going to the load range C, but there isn't much price difference.

I go by what it says on the tire. my truck door says 35psi, but my Hankook DynaPro's say 44psi max load cold so I run them about 40-42 psi

There's no reason to run near max psi if you're not hauling or towing anything. It will just make your truck ride like a log wagon. If 50 is the max psi, I would run about 38-40 with an empty 1500, then bump it up when you tow or haul.

You drive/maintain your truck how you like to, and I will drive/maintain mine the way I want to. I like the air pressure right where it is, and I am not looking for a truck with a "Caddy" ride, or I would have bought a dang Escalade.

Take it easy Clint, I wasn't trying to critisize you for the way you drive/maintain your truck. I really wasn't referring to your post at all. I was just letting the origional poster know that he would be okay if he didn't run the max pressure all of the time, especially when he wasn't towing or hauling anything. Heck, you can go bouncing around on E-rated tires at 80 psi if you want, I really don't care.

It's all good man, just wanted to clear the air. I live in Taylorville, it's about 30 miles SE of Springfield. It would probably be considered more "south-central" but I just put "central" because I got tired of people assuming I was from the Chicago area. For some reason, a lot of people see "IL" and think Chicago. Where is Elliott?

It is north of Champaign/Urbana by about 26 miles. I have been to Taylorville! Maybe just the one time, but I have been there. My SO and I were on the motorcycles last weekend, and visited Greenup, IL. I completely understand the Chicago thing....

That's pretty cool. You're not too far away then. I went to college in Mattoon and Charleston, so I'm kinda familiar with the Greenup area. Talk to you later man.
