God I love fall, nothing beats it, it can't get here soon enough.  This heat and humidity is really getting old, gets old after about two days.

Come on sweatshirty weather!!!!

Its also my favorite time of the year for working.

Yeah, JP, I prefer fall myself as well.  It just hit me that I haven't taken part in any "summer activities" this year (beach, lake, pool, vacation, etc.).  We have been very busy this year.

Trust me I cannot wait to get out of this dreaded $hithole.  But I didn't really have a choice in living here seeing as my parents lived here when I was born and they never moved, and for some reason...cheap...I stayed here for college...cheap.  Anyways, I should be done with school by the end of next summer and will be moving next fall to Nebraska  :flag: Which means I will be closer to all of you in the Plains and all.  We will have to meet up or something...

Woohoo!!  Almost soybean and milo time!!   :thumb:

You are the first person I've ever heard cheer milo harvest.  I've never been around the stuff before, but everyone I've talked to that has says its the most miserable crop there is, dusty, itchy, you name it.

Soybeans, well in good going they are ok, but if those stems are green they are one huge pain in the ass.  Gets that combine growling and rumbling, even going less than 1mph.  I'll pick corn first any day of the week, thats fun stuff.   :thumb:

I dont muchmind milo, except for the pains that go along with it. (itch, scratch, dust etc.)  If it is a fairly good stand you can cut it high, thats why I like to cut it.  Just dont make me do it with a rowhead.  If I do, I end up forgetting to watch the far end and leave a single row the whole length of the field and I have to go back and get it.  We usually cut it with a reel, fun part is weve got to put the #### milo fingers on before we can use it.  Sucks putting them on and sucks taking them off, removing the sickle guard bolts and holding the fingers on with them.  Soybeans are rough on the machines!  Cutting so low to the ground, it takes whatever is laying there with the plants.  We havent picked corn for probably a little over year.  Just decided not to grow any this year I guess.  I still say my favorite is good old wheat.  All you have to do is make sure your cutting the width of the platform and no rowheads!

Fire bad!  Cleaning out the machine SUX.  Crawling around in there is hard on the knees, I dont get too crazy in there.  Good to peek around everywhere and get chaff off or away from anything that spins or moves.  Anybody ever throw a knife in a straw chopper before??  Man that gets ugly, I wish I had some pictures of that...  Put holes in all kinds of stuff.  Friend of ours gave sunflowers a shot this year.  Didnt look too bad.
