4wd service light

So my 4wd service light went off yesterday.  10k on the odometer. 1year old.  hmm... checked everything out, all ranges for 4wd engaged and disengaged properly, and when I restarted it, light didn't come back on.  Talked to my service rep today and he says that its usually the switch going bad.   :( What the *$#* is that?   If there is usually a problem, they should fix it, no?  According to him, it is "not common" but if it isn't that common, why did he have a good idea of what it is? arrgghh... how frustrating.  Anyone else have this problem?

Had mine replaced on my '99. Dealer said it was a common problem. They replaced it under warranty. I think there may be a TSB on this. ???  :(

I brought my 2001 1/2 ton in for the same thing this morning. The Service guy was a complete jerk and started pointing out the fact that I had done a suspension lift and that might have caused it. If anyone can send me the TSB on the light issue, I would very much appreciate it. I would rather go in to pick it up loaded with info.....

I thought this problem was only isolated to the Silverado's?

Regardless, it's just the switch pack on the dash.  It just pops out of the dash face then disconnect the cluster plug in back, reverse for install and you're done.
