Which Sealer For This Application?

Recommended Posts

I need to run a bead of clear caulking/sealer around these windows on this truck cap and am wondering what's the correct product to use. Most everything I see is 'silicone' and I know from experience that silicone can be bad ju-ju if repainting is ever needed.

I see they have 'latex' caulking for around house windows and such but I'm wondering which type of product I should use for this particular application?

Thanks

Your best bet is 100% silicone, then remove with solvents if repainting becomes necessary. Siliconized latex is a little less messy but might turn brittle over time.

Really need to find out why caulk is needed...the aluminum frame usually rests on a foam gasket against the fiberglass. Most of these unscrew from the inside, frame pops out the front. If leaking, it's best to fix the gasket and/or loosen & seal behind the frame.

If they are leaking around the frame. unbolt them from the inside enough to push them out a quarter inch or so and run a bead of silicone in the crack. It'll seal em up tight!
