Ionic Voyager Nerf Step Bars ?

I have a couple of buddys that have these. They like them. Good luck with removing the middle body mounting bolts on your 2010. Both the driver and passenger side mounting bolt nuts were not welded very well on my 2010 and the bolt just spins. Dealer says not in warranty. I say GM lack of quality.

Can you get or do you have a picture of them on your buddys trucks? Am I going to have that same problem on any steps I install with the middle body mounting bolts?

Please see the last reply on my post titled 'Repair Body Mount Bolt on 2010 Silverado'. GM is aware of the problem on 2010 & 2011 Silverado and Sierra full size trucks.

It appears these bolt on almost the same way as the GM 6" oval assist steps (part # 20921113). Watching the video it shows them being bolted on the inside of the body frame area, not up in the cab mount area. I purchased a set of the 6" GM ovals from gmpartsdirect for my 2010 Silverado Ext Cab and put them on with the help of a friend. They are very sturdy this way also and appear to bolt on the same way. IMHO, the ovals look better and provide better footing than the round ones. I had the round ones on my 06 GMC Sierra so I can vouch for that. Hope this helps.

I like the look of the ovals and the bigger footing but i dont like the dealer price of around 600. I saw those on ebay for 350 free shipping and they look almost identical but also I know down the road you usually get what you pay for.

The OE GM steps come with the brackets already on the steps. All you have to do is mount them to the inside. Complete in less than 45 minutes. 455 at the place I stated earlier.

Sorry, just noticed yours is a GMC Crew Cab. For you, it will be GM PART # 20919889

I have a set of the 5" oval models and so far have been happy with them. Time will tell, only have had them since June or so.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I did a lot of thinking about steps for my new truck. I wanted something that bolted to the rockers as I had read, thanks to the forum, about GM's body mount bolts giving problems with nerf installs going to the cab bolts. Also I wanted to avoid any creaking in case something with the cab bolts didn't line up right or was in a bind. I really liked the GM OEM bars but so did GM to the tune of around $500 or better. So I took a chance on these. I actually bought them from Running Board World. But after I ordered I realized the same boards were available from the same people at ebay. Ionic Voyager on Ebay If you order from ebay you can save yourself $20.

I ordered around 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, and they were delivered by UPS at 12:15 today, Friday. I was surprised that the boards were made in Taiwan and not China. They were well wrapped and arrived in excellent condition. The brackets and hardware came in a separate carton. Everything was packaged REALLY well.

In the crew model, GM has welded a nut to the backside of the rocker for such an installation for the front two brackets, so these bracket installs were VERY easy. The two rear brackets had to be installed by pulling a body plug and inserting a clip. (Exactly like in the ebay video) I have no idea why GM included the mounting hardware for the two forward mounts and not for the two rear??? Once the brackets were up the board install was very easy. Everything was snugged up with 1/2 inch socket and was good to go in a little over an hour. Once you get the understanding of how the install works it goes fast. The directions provided are VERY poor and do not seem vehicle specific, but if you know what you're looking for it isn't bad at all. If anyone is interested just reply or PM, I'll help with whatever questions you have if I can.

After everything was installed I was really surprised how sturdy the boards seem. The brackets seem a little lighter than the OEM ones but I honestly can't tell it by the step into the truck. Everything is super firm with ZERO flex. They feel every bit as firm as the Nasta nerfs I had bolted with the cab bolts on my 2004.

If you're looking for a nice wide step that is modeled (if not identical) to the OEM boards, the Ionic Voyagers are a good bet. I cannot speak to longevity; only time will tell, but day one impressions are a 10 out of 10.

Here's a couple of pix. Sorry about the quality, but I had to take them in the garage as it was dark and snowing outside.

Nice looking steps

Thanks,

After I installed I went by the local dealer who has a truck with the OEM steps on it. Other than the brackets that I mentioned in the earlier post, they appear identical. The OEM steps seem to have a plastic cover over the brackets where these do not, but I am completely happy. We'll see how they hold up.
