8.1 Doing Some Smoking

I was towing a car for a freind today only about a 45 min ride total mostly highway at like 60-65 mph, and a couple times looking in the mirror i thought it was my imagination but i saw some smoke..hard to tell if it was blue or black. but when i parked i saw it coming out of the wheels wells and from the hood, so i opened it to look and didnt see anything burning, theres only 70,000 on it. i checked the oil and it wasnt low.

what do you think? the truck/motor are completely serviced and runs 110%

i thought that but it was definitly under the hood.. all the gauges read normal also.

there was no bad smell either

Were the brakes dragging excessively?

No,the car i was towing was on the trailer..nothing rubbing, the smoke was definitly coming from under the hood of the yukon

my first giess was valve cover gaskets or something like that.. again its only got 70,324 miles on it, and i dont beat or abuse it..

Sounds like it wasn't coming out of the tailpipe. I'd get underneath it and check for leaks (atf & oil). A valve cover gasket leak can do that as well. It will run down to the exhaust manifolds and burn off. Next time it happens, stop and smell the smoke. Hot ATF smells different then oil. If your pulling weigh and going up and down steep hills I've experienced the tranny puking some oil out of the tranny vent.

i found some wet areas around the front diff and tranny..dont feel like paying a garage to find it. what are the top 3 things that could be leaking?

any exhaust leaks? my guess would be the trans pukeing or the 8.1 gas pump rapeist burning oil

I have a little leak near the oil filter probably leaking from the hoses that's goes to the motor oil radiator

i think thats what it was..whatever is leaking slightly.tranny or trans case was dripping on to the 3" exhaust pipe coming across from the drivers side..
