07 Silverado Nbs Rancho Install Problems

I just installed the Rancho 4" lift on my 2007 Silverado NBS (4wd). The actual kit went on without a problem, I did a brake bleed (due to replaced front brake lines) but the brakes felt spongy so I did a second bleed to try and get the rest of the air out of the lines. Once I finished bleeding for the second time I started up the truck and now the pedal just goes to the floor when you push on it. There is a slight resistance but it will go all the way to the floor. Has anyone else had this problem when bleeding there brakes? I checked all of the brake line connections and bleed vales, all are tight, no fluid leaks anywhere. Could this be something to do with the ABS unit?

I don't know if this will help or not. But pump the brakes for along time. Then bleed them with a clear hose on the bleed valve and place the other end of the hose in a bottle with brake fluid in it.

 

Sometimes there is so much air in the lines that it wont bleed right and will keep getting air back in the lines when you open the bleed valve. The hose in brake fluid wont allow air back on the valve.

Have someone pump the pedal until you feal pressure have them hold the pedal to the floor then open the bleeder untill the air comes out then tighten the bleeder, have them pump the pedal again until the pedal gets hard again hold to the floor open bleeder again until air comes out close bleeder pump pedal again, repete this until brakes are good. If you release the pedal while the bleeder is still open it will suck air back into the lines or you can do what Matt is telling you.

 

The key is for who ever is pumping the pedal is for them to keep pressure on the pedal while you are releasing the air. And keep the master cylinder full replacing the cap after every fill.

Thanks for the replies. The second time I bled the brakes I did what you were saying. Pump up the brakes, hold the pedal down then open the bleeder valve (with a tube going into a jar of brake fluid). I have only been bleeding the front brakes since I only replaced the front brake lines. I'll try going through all four brakes and see it this solves the problem.

Problem Solved! The torque spec that rancho gave for the inline brake connection was not high enough to completely seal the joint. So when I would bleed the brakes I was pulling more air into the line during each cycle. I tightened them down a 1/4-1/3 turn, re-bleed the brakes and all is well.
