'05 Silverado - Electrical Issues

About 6 weeks ago my rear doors (CCSB) would intermittently not unlock. The intermittent is now, don't unlock at all. Neither of them. I asked the dealer, he said that door actuator replacement is $750 for both. If they are unlocked, they lock just fine with the keyless entry, they just don't unlock.

Now, while that being said, my Leer topper is wired into the keyless entry and it now unlocks intermittent. I noticed that one of the wires for the lock actuator on the topper was exposed and the copper was corroded. I cut that section out and butt spliced it together and put heat shrink tubing over the wire.

I haven't checked all of the fuses yet and I couldn't get the relays out.

Is it all that common for both door rear door actuators to go out at the same time?

I don't have much experience with electrical as far as that goes, but where should I start? Replace all of the fuses and try to replace the relays?

Thanks in advance.....

If both rear doors and the topper are acting similarly, then I highly doubt it's the rear door actuators. The service writer was likely just blowing smoke out of a body orifice like they so often do unfortunately. A tech needs to look at it and determine what is really going on with the electronics, it sounds like a short.

My 05 Crew Cab does the exact same thing. Rear doors will lock, but not unlock. I do not have a topper. It started out randomly working, not working. Always the rear doors, randomly wouldn't unlock. Now they wont unlock at all. (You can still reach over the seat and unlock the doors by hand)

I even went as far as pulling off all of the door panels to compare the voltage that goes to the solenoids when the switch is pushed.

Front doors - Lock on switch powered one leg of the connector with 12 volts lock the doors.

Front doors - Unlock on switch powered other leg of the connector with 12 volts to unlock the doors.

Rear doors - Lock on switch powered one leg of the connector with 12 volts lock the doors.

Rear doors - Unlock on switch powered BOTH legs of the connector with 12 volts. (this will never work)

Its not the solenoids. I tested this by using a jumper from the passenger front door to the rear door solenoid and it functioned properly.

I also swapped the Lock/Unlock relays, same results. Replaced the unlock relay, same results..

Could this be in the BCM? Anyone have a wire diagram?

Its a huge pain..

Edit: It has the same symptoms if you use any door switch or the key fob.

Bwinter - any updates?

2003 Yukon Denali XL. About 2 months ago my rear passenger doors and cargo door would not lock with the remote nor the door control switch; however they did unlock. I reversed the lock and unlock relays in the driver side instrument panel, then the three doors would lock and unlock properly. Therefore, I bought a new relay about a month ago and replaced the lock relay. All door locks operated properly. Just this week the same symptom re-occurred: both rear passenger doors and rear cargo door would not lock from the power controls but would unlock; driver & front passenger doors never had an issue. Tonight I pulled both relays again. With neither relay installed, front door locks operate fine, rear doors neither lock nor unlock. Being curious, I installed both original relays, not the recently purchased relay. Now all doors lock and unlock properly. Any ideas what's going on? What else can I try?
