HarlanC Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 Well here's my baby. 1991 GMC Sierra EXT cab. She isnt pretty but she has sentimental value to me. I learned how to drive with this truck haha. I bought it a couple of months ago and decided I didnt like two tone blue. Being laid off I couldnt get it professionally done so I put some elbow grease and time into her.
KMGZ400 Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 so how many cans a spraypaint did you go through? what are the specs on that truck?
HarlanC Posted October 11, 2010 Author Posted October 11, 2010 Its got a 305 with 333k under the hood. Im not sure on the axle ratio but it sure as hell isnt for highway cruising. I have to keep it at around 100-110 km/h else she is screaming. No idea on the tranny either. When my parents bought this about 15 years ago the tranny blew and the dealership replaced it. You'd be surprised, but it only took about 6-8 cans for one coat.
KMGZ400 Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 original engine? thats pretty impressive. haha it might not be the gear it might be a 3 speed. hmm i would guess around 15-16 cans. 6-8 is suprising. black out your rims too!
HarlanC Posted October 11, 2010 Author Posted October 11, 2010 haha yeah I totally should. I still have a couple cans left. Original engine for sure. My dad knows how to take care of his vehicles and my mother granny drove it. That engine runs just as good as the day it was made. This truck has given me complete faith in GMC and I wont buy anything but now. It's got overdrive and even with that it gets pretty loud above 110.
KMGZ400 Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 yeah they are good trucks. i havent really seen to many 305's before and dont know much about them or what they are like. you actually go 110 in that?!?! you mean mph or kmh/
HarlanC Posted October 11, 2010 Author Posted October 11, 2010 Bahahaha! Guess I should specify. KM/H. Yeah 305's are known for their endurance. Not for their power lol She still has really good kick though. I actually have an article of a guy that had his 305 go 1,000,000 KM's and it was still going strong lol
KMGZ400 Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 hah. yeah i would think it was imposible to even go over 85mph in that truck. thats crazy. i highly doubt the tranny went 1,000,000 KM's
Wingnut Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 original engine? thats pretty impressive. haha it might not be the gear it might be a 3 speed. hmm i would guess around 15-16 cans. 6-8 is suprising. black out your rims too! When I sold my '89 Chevy with the 305, it had 350k miles on the original engine and transmission. And I'd bought it from an oilfield supply company. They beat the ever lovin' piss out of trucks. Best truck I've ever owned.
exracer Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 I have the same truck in a 93....305 with the overdrive tranny and 307 gears.....will and has pulled a loaded stock car trailer with no problems....120k down the hyway.......she is pushing 300 k and runs like a top excellent truck and will give ya years of service
