I've seen with a 2011 Silverado or Sierra Crew Cab 1500, if you finance with Ally Financial, you get the $2500 rebate plus another $2005 Ally allowance for a total of $4505 cash. Now I have received conflicting requirements to get this allowance. One dealer says it is only for buyers with a credit score of 580 or less (terrible credit). Another says no requirements other than you will finance with Ally at their standard rates.

 

Can anyone offer more info?

i just went to their website and it looks like they bought out GMAC financing. when i bought my truck back in May they offered $1,000 rebate for financing with GMAC. Probably doing the same thing, but giving a little bit more rebate if you finance because their rates are quite a bit higher then most places and you have to do it on their terms.

 

I have excellent credit (750+) and the best rate they would give me was 5.5% for 60 months. I could get as low as 2.9% from my credit union but there wouldn't be the extra $1,000 rebate. The way it worked with my loan, you had to make 4 payments then you could pay off the loan or refinance....so i did that with my credit union to get my lower rate.

 

yeah you get that rebate upfront, but you pay it over the life of the loan bc you end up paying more interest then a loan you can get elsewhere...that's if you go with their loan rate the entire life of the loan.

It is quite possible that the interest rate will be a bit higher than what I could normally get, but since I'm only going to finance about $7500, that additional cash is well worth it.

 

GM is looking for ways to boost sales....

yeah if it's only $7,500 then if the rate is a bit higher it won't make that much difference. whoever told you, you had to have bad credit is blowin' smoke!

Total interest paid is $995 vs. $877. I always pay more towards the principal anyway.

just noticed you have a G8 GT, any issues with yours?

 

I had a 2009 GT for about 6 months.

I took it in for the TPMS/Brake light switch recall and ball joint boot TSB. And I had the "boom,vibration" that others have noticed, but after I did a burnout I noticed things where better and I rotated the tires and did the other pair I haven't had the "boom" and experimenting with tire pressures removed the vibration. . Two things I believe, that the summer only Bridgestones are very pressure sensitive, and since my G8 sat for a long time on the dealers lot, I think they may have gotten a little flatspotted.

Otherwise, I love the car, but I'm actually trading it in along with the 04 Silverado for a new Sierra. I realized my boys are growing up way to fast and I'd like to have the resources to do more things with them, Walt Disney World,etc... I got mine in June 2009.

 

Did you have issues with yours?

yeah i had quite a few issues with mine. wasn't too impressed with it. real rough transmission that they wouldn't do anything about. went in for several recalls as well. biggest thing was the vibration/wheel shake that they couldn't ever figure out either. They even ordered brand new wheels/tires and that didn't fix the issue either. it sat at the dealer for several weeks trying to fix the wheel shake, but they couldn't ever figure it out. it burned me out, so i dumped it. i watched the vin on carfax and saw the vehicle was sold then listed again 5,000 miles later.
