Well finally i have decided on a project.  

 

Fatigue Properties of Cryogenically Treated D2 Tool Steel

 

I will be conducting fatigue tests on D2 samples.

 

Shouldnt be to bad.  Hopefully ill have my results published in a journal and the steel industry will use the results (which will hopefully save them $$$)

:thumb:  You gonna do any microscopy on the failed surfaces? (Used to operate electron microscopes).

That sounds like a decent project...we'll see whether you still like it in a few months....

 

Not trying to rain on your parade or anything, but somehow I suspect that seeing the results will be more interesting than finding them......but that's just me, so I'll shut up about it.

Shouldnt be to bad.  Put a sample in overnight come in and take the reading.  Greenrado (or should i say bluerado) i wont be doing any microscopy.  Only taking readings of how many cycles till failure.
