2003 2500hd Crew Cab W 16k Miles...

I am in the hunt for a 2500HD crew cab truck. Even though I would prefer a diesel, I cam across a 2003 2500HD crew STL 6.0L gas truck with 16K miles. From the photos it looks mint. The dealer said there is some rust showing on the chrome on the front bumper, but other than that there is no rust. I may go look at it tonight, it is a 2 hour drive. Asking price is 20K, which is right at KBB value. I just do not know about buying a 7 year old truck even though it has basically no miles on it.

It sounds like a good truck to me and sounds like it would be worth the drive to look at it. Get both the carfax and autocheck record for it, and ask the dealer for the blackbook value. I would have no problem buying a seven year old truck, especially with such low mileage. I recently bought a '99 2500 with 75k original miles and am sure that it will last a very long time for me. Do you have any pictures of it?

I know... I am just curious what happens to a vehicle when it spends most of its time parked. With only 16K on the clock, that is like 2200 miles a year, so you know it sat parked more than it was driven.

My 94' 1500 only has 150,000 miles on it. It stays in the garage and I take it out on the weekends or on nice days. It runs perfect. As long as it runs good I would think it would be a good buy.

I just bought my truck a few months ago, and it only had 8500 miles on it. It was like getting a new truck for half the price. I have since used the 4X4 and towed my fifth wheel trailer, and it performed flawlessly. I did change all the fluids and put new tires on it; and I have no regrets.

That is a really nice looking truck and may be a really good deal. Take a look at the pricing per Edmunds.com. The price is probably set based on a trade-in. If you are not trading for it (buying without a trade) you can probably get the price down a few $1000. Good luck. Let us know how this deal goes.

I would look hard at the tires, serpentine belt, brake rotors etc... I wouldn't be afraid of that truck though!

 

The biggest problem would be getting a loan on what is virtually a 7 year old vehicle.

What i have recently found out is banks will give loans for anything with under 60K and 03 or newer no matter the credit circumstance. I'd definitely buy it if it's what you want!! Like previously stated i would change all fluids and i mean ALL and belts brakes and tires for sure. If they look all right then i'd buy it or at least maybe plan to do a few up keep type things.
