Please post your trucks configuration and mileage.  Is your truck stock?  Comments?  What made the biggest improvement?

I picked the highest category, and it's even a little better than that (assuming you ment solo).  My running average for tanks including no towing is 21.5 MPG  That's 8441 miles on 393.254 Gallons for those who think some of us can't do our own math.  Incldung the tanks in which at least some towing occurred the lifetime total is 12,373 miles and 627.256 Gallons for the running total of 19.7 MPG to date.

6 speed 2WD Crew Cab SB, stone stock.  The most important thing for improving fuel economy with this truck in my experience is slowing down.  Steady at 80 MPH = 20 MPG.

Still in break-in (688 miles), but it appears that I'm averaging 15.8MPG, but I have not been interested in saving money on fuel during the break-in period. No long trips or towing yet. I'll post after I get a few more fill-ups under the belt.

Configuration:

2003 Silverado 2500HD Crew Cab

6.6L Duramax, Allison automatic, 2WD

Asthetic improvements only (nerf bars and a fiberglass lid)

My 2001 2500HD regular cab long bed with OEM tires in the LT245/75/R16E Bridgestones, is getting average of 21.5-22 mpg in city unloaded and 27-30 mpg on highway. It currently has about 16,300 miles on the Duramax with 3,000 miles on the current oil.

I am sure that with a change out of tires that would likely improve. (Looking at Michelin LT 265/76/R16E's in the future).

Have towed with it once since I got it and that was a once in a weird request to pull a guys 35 foot 14,500  pound cabin cruiser and that was a short trip to boot so I could not get a real meaningful idea on fuel mileage.

I have just over 6k miles and getting between 17 and 19. I have between 300 and 1000 lbs in the bed at all times. This is driving city and highway. This is the very best truck I have had for power/economy. I have only added a bed cover, rails, and grille insert. I am thinking about 255/85 TrXus MT tires. This may change the mpg a bit, but should be nice for winter driving.

Frank, congrats on the truck! Whats the configuration?

Very nice truck Frank! Do you drive it much? I bet it's quite a size difference from a ZR2.

I have a had a busy season trying to contend with weather this year. It is now turning cold, so I will be posting more being I have more time. I will be getting DSL tomorrow, so it will speed things up quite a bit. I only get 24kbps on dial up.

Shade over 2 weeks and right at 2000 miles on her right now.

It's a lot of mileage with the wife driving it back and forth to work but it should get a good useage test this weekend.

Truck is 03 2WD D/A EC SB LT stone-cold stock running gear, with tonneau cover which I feel gives me slight MPG advantage. Generally drive in the "sweet spot", about 1900RPM. Truck currently has 106,000 miles. Figures are for summer-blend fuel, running on open road.

Empty: 20-22MPG

Pulling 6.5-ton trailer: 10.5-12MPG
