Gmt 800 Instrument Cluster Question

I have tried doing searches on it with no luck. I currently have a Denali Cluster with a trans temp guage (Bluish Background). I want to go back to the factory look with the white light background.

 

However, if possible I would like to retain the transmission temperature guage. Is it possible to get a cluster from a 2500 truck and put it in a 1500?

 

I just want my night time lights to match the rest of the interior and the white is easier for me to see at night.

 

Anyway, any help is appreciated.

yes it will the same as the denali cluster worked. just make sure it came from a gas engine truck not diesel

Okay. Cool. I couldn't remember but it seemed like for '01 the 2500 didn't work on a 1500 cluster. I don't know must have just heard somebody say it and went with it. lol Thanks.

I know '99 is NOT plug-n-play,I tried it on my '99 and no luck.

The 99s have the air bag set up differently. A newer cluster will work in the 99...but the air-bag light will stay on all the time. Also don't forget to have the correct miles programmed in the new cluster. thats the only place they are kept.

Yep,Thats what it was Don...My air bag light was on,but the trans. temp. gauge also didn't work,I remember reading a post on here awhile back that something was different on the '99s to where the gauge wouldn't work without some kind on modification.
