I was at the dealer today for some warranty work. They had an 2011 GMC SLE with the same options as mine minus the roof lights and fog lights but had the remote start and rear back up warning system onstar and xm. They want to give me 29000 for my truck it has 41300 miles on it. the sticker for thiers is 53000. I owe 19000 on mine the payment is 100 dollars less than I am paying now. I don't know much about the new style trucks at all or if the motors are better or worse with the emissions they have. any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Tell them to put the fog lights and roof lights on the truck and they have a deal. It all depends on if you want have more of a loan. You owe 19k on your current truck and you would owe 24 on the new one. Just depends on if you think its worth going into 5 grand into the whole...Its a never ending cycle from year to year.

Thanks for the reply Savage. I did a little research to try and get a little more informed and if it wasn't for the emissions it would be an easy decission. But having to add DEF fluid and emply soot out of the exhaust brings back bad memories of the new trucks we had at work and all the problems and trips to the dealer. I'm leaning on waiting another year before buying. This might all change with rising of sun tomorrow after dreaming about a new truck all night

I vote "No Deal"

What will the new truck do, that your current truck will not do?

You owe $19K now and you would owe about $45K with tax/title etc?

You have a used truck now - and one month after trading you'll have a used truck.

Personally - I wouldn't dream of trading a truck at 41,300 miles.

Back again, I havn't been on for a few days. Well after doing some more research and haggling with the dealer. Here is the outcome. I traded the 07 had 2 years 5 months left on the lone at 7.5% which I paid the first couple years on the loan  I qualified for the 5 year no interest for the 11 so I will have a lower payment than I had before approx. 60 bucks and be paying 2 in a half years longer than my old loan with a 4 year newer truck. My old truck was starting to get rust on bottom inside edges of the doors and tailgate, (Ohio winters). The dealer is going to put the fog lights on but said they couldn't get the GM cab lights for some reason. I called a gm parts counter and tried to get them myself and they said the same thing. The dealer was going to send my truck to an outside company that would put them on for 500 bucks and I said no. I put them on my 07 for under a 100. So far I love this new truck, it is a beast compared to my 07. You can tell it had a higher payload capability it has a stiffer ride. Sits higher which I like. I don't have alot of miles on it yet. Just taking it easy to put some heat cycles on it. I really liked my 07 and was not even considering buying a new truck but the more I drive this one the more I'm forgetting the old one. Hope it keeps going this way. Any issues pop up I will post.

    • Because that is IDIOTIC, much like this question. They've already been forced to do it by past administrations - why would you roll that back when it's a GOOD thing?  WHO IS ARGUING FOR LOWER MILEAGE???? 😂  NOBODY IS!!   I'm certainly not! What I want is RELIABLE vehicles again that are worth the price paid!    I don't get your logic here ...   In 2003 I paid $2,200 for our '86 Grand Marquis. It's STILL running and I've never been inside the engine, aside for the timing cover since it was leaking, so I threw a new timing set in since that makes sense. Transmission is ORIGINAL. Electric pump in the gas tank is ORIGINAL. Rear end is ORIGINAL. I'd have to hit my head REAL hard to want to pay $60k or more for a car that still can't come close to the comfort, seating and storage space, or reliability of this one. Nothing is even in the ball park! Hundreds of thousands of brands and models have been built and sent to the crusher while this one keeps on going!   https://postimg.cc/Z9XRrCSg   I've got a whole fleet of cars, motorcycles, and a truck close to this age for summer and winter. No one could pay me enough to buy anything built this century. I have zero use for any it.
    • Since I'm the one who has to fix them when they break, I'll take vehicles over 30 years old all day, EVERY day, over ANY modern crap. Have you attempted any repairs on anything built after 2006? It's a friggin nightmare, and gets worse the newer the model year.    If I had the will or desire, I can make any car of any age outside of a Model T (I don't have THAT much will ...) just as powerful, comfortable, and have all the tech the new stuff does, and get pretty close in mileage, too. I prefer SIMPLICITY. The less the vehicle has, the less to fix WHEN it breaks, not IF.   I'm glad you snot-nosed punks don't like them. More for us, plus that keeps the prices from climbing more than they already have.👍
    • Bringing this thread back on topic. I just noticed the incredible lack of bright chrome across the entire new lineup. Even the Denali has tinted the brightwork in the grille and has none elsewhere. None of them have chrome bumpers. As far as I can tell there aren't even chrome mirror caps. I'm curious if this also happens out back? Are there no chrome rear bumpers either? This is quite the departure for GMC.
