For a 5.3 L V8 which would have a louder / nicer deep tone without drone in the cab? The 22 inch muffler with 3 inch piping or the 14 inch muffler with 3 inch piping from the cat back. Your help is greatly appreciated in advance.

What about the 18" that's what I have on my truck and it has a nice deep rumble, and is only somewhat loud when you get on it. It also has minimal drone with my 350 motor.

Here's a sound clip:

I do need to get a new sound clip, it sounds somwhat crackly and it has 0 crackle in real live, and is a nice deep tone, but isn't obnoxiously loud

I can't remember the number on mine...but I think it was something like a 5x7 maybe. I know it was a 14". Not too loud at all. Just cruising down the road you can't even hear it. Mainly just at start up and low gears. Same motor as you, the 5.3. Nice deep tone though.

Which model number muffler is it?

I actually went with model number 16569, but its the whole cat back and exits in front of the passanger rear tire, 3.5 dual outlet and 18" muffler. Its at the powder coater right now getting powder coated matte black right now. I have a black truck and didnt want to see the chrome exhaust to be so obvious in front of the tire.

I went wth Magnafloe 12576. Straight thru no drone and works ans sounds great on my 5.3

I thought the stock exhaust piping was 2.75"? I also thought for our trucks, we need offset/center inlet/outlet?

they are 2.75". i just did a 14" mangafloe on mine and it cause drone from 1700-2100 rpms. i ended up putting a glass pack infront of the muffler and now it sounds a little quieter(in a good way) and the drone is gone.
