2010 Usb Nav In 2008 Avy -- No Nav Voice Commands

I got a 2010 DENSO USB NAV/DVD from ebay for 600 bucks. Sent is to CPS and got it programmed for my 2008 Avalanche with Bose, no rear entertainment. Onstar works, gps works, usb works, navigation works except when I push the talk button on my steering wheel I get the onstar wanting me to make a phone call. Onstar is hooked up and I have minutes available. None of the Navigation commands work. Yes I put in the wiring harness from head unit 4 and 5 to ther VCIM. Yes I played with the wires to see if they were loose. Any ideas. I can probably live without voice on the nav but it bugs me that it does not work. I have read threads for hours and hours and found others with my problem but no solutions. I do not have a lockpick installed.

Does the speech icon show in the top centre of the Nav sceen when you push the button on the steering wheel ? Mine does the exact same thing but just noticed the icon yesterday, if you listen real close there is a faint beep after that give it the speech command you want. Onstar , radio, navigation....

um... is the mic connected?

Success!!!!! Navigation Voice now works!!!! Don't know why but when I hold down the Source button instead of the talk button I get the beep. The talk icon comes up on the naviagtion screen and it now works perfect. The talk button only works for the onstar stuff.

the "talk" button on mine works for the OnStar and the Bluetooth (2010 Avalanche) though the bluetooth kinda sucks, it doesn't sync my address book, and if I want to make a call I have to Press it once, wait for beep which is OnStar, then Press again and say the name of my connect BT device, then wait for another beep, then say "Voice" which then takes over the voice commands of my Droid phone, then wait and say Call or Dial or whatever.

in the time it takes to do all that I can press the side button on my droid and say "Call" and be done with it, it still connects over the BT in the car whether I dial direct from phone or thru the BT system..

and also it mutes the rear passenger headsets when I am on a call, which is a royal pain with a 6 year old in the back wondering WTF daddy just did to her cartoon..

But I decided a long time ago, BT or not - unless it is an emergency I don't make or answer calls in the car while driving if my kid is with me.. most of the time I just turn off the phone when I am driving.. Don't fart around with the Radio either.. put on a playlist on my ipod and let it play..
