Skyjacker 3 Lift Inquiry

I know everyone on here is going to say just go for 6 or higher. Im not into Height of the truck more about overall stance and appearance. I like the dessertrunner look (fill the wheel wells with tire) I do not want to run 35" tires so much either as I do a lot of travelling for work and 33" tires for a 20" wheel are a lot more economical. As we all know they still are not cheap.

I used to have the 3 in rough country that just jacked my front suspension up. Right now im runnin a RC level kit to fit 275 60 20's. I want to get it up a little more and not with a body lift.

Skyjacker is the only other company that offers a 3" kit. Looks good and skyjacker is a good company. The kit has CV spacers, new knuckles, strut spacer that goes inside the strut, new cross members that do not rewuire and cutting of the truck too. I like the idea of minimal cutting.

Anyone running this kit or know someone or anything. Skyjacker wouldnt make it if no one was buying it. Price is up there around 1300 but to me it shows quality in the parts and types of parts in the kit compared to my old RC kit wich would have fit in a shoe box if i didnt get there Upper a arms.

This is going to be a XMAS/New Years gift to myself. So if anyone finds other companies let me know. too.

That seems expensive for a 3" susp kit. Does it come with new shocks?

Looks to be a respectable kit. Honestly though I would just spend a couple hundred more and get a BDS 4". They warranty the system for life I believe, and are pretty cool guys too. My uncle runs a 7" on his HD and he said they have been great to him for help.

BDS offered me a 4" for around $1300 at the INDY 4 Wheel Jamboree. That was their special 30% off for the weekend though. I am still kicking myself for not putting it on the credit card. Would of had it paid off already.

I know you say you don't care about height that much, but I would go with the RC 5" lift way before I spent $1300 on a 3 inch. I also know you said you didn't want a body lift, but I would really look into the zone 1.5". With your leveling kit, you would be at 3.5 which would look great with 33's and you can't tell these trucks have them. Also, As far as "people must buy it or they wouldn't make it". I would say the same about the RC 3" and you see where that got us. $250 for the zone 1.5" vs $1300 for a 3" is an EASY choice for me. Just my 2 cents.

This or the BDS 4" kit. God bless RC. Those guys are responsible for everyone elses sales going up, because we all have to have something to replace that trash when it comes off.

Yea im looking at the suspension lift because im going to have to replace the knuckles since RC makes you drill out the top for their ball joint. I can hear it pop hear n there so i know i wil have to go. I have a Zone 1.5 sittin in the garage. I like the the fact of a full suspension system that all component are made to work together. If i chose to go higher than 3 i can put the bl on it.

I looked at the BDS but for the price thats why i shifted towards skyjacker. If i could get it for the same price or close im game for it.

I believe skyjacker and BDS both come with new shock for the back. Skyjackers uses the factory shock for the strut.

Well, if your just set on suspension, I would still go with the RC 5". I hope I don't have an issue with mine. I had a good shop take off the RC 3" and put in the CCM. They didn't say anything about the knuckles (I knew you had to drill them out) and I don't have any vibrations.

I would be concerned about the knuckles. When my kit came off, my front end guy told me that those knuckles are precisely machined for the proper fitment of the factory ball joints and that they should NEVER be altered.

I asked the shop that pulled the RC off and they said they were fine. Truck as kept alignment and it's been almost 8 months since I had it taken off. I'll be crossing my fingers.

This is the main reason for full suspension.... Im going to need new nuckles according to multiple shops/dealers/gm techs. If not now, i will in time.(I think I already do).

Does anyone know who makes good replacement upper ball joints since its the entire a arm?

Moog is highly respected on this forum, and I can back that up with previous generations of trucks. Moog front suspension parts have never let me down, so far. I'm sorry to say I don't know the part numbers off the top of my head.

Well i have pretty much been talked into a BDS 4" kit.

Anyone ever loko at Zone's 4.5 inch kit? They come with new struts/shocks/rear blocks/cv spacers/drop brackets for dif / Kit looks almost identical to BDS but list price is like 500 bucks cheaper..... Im not sure of the difference unless its BDS's warrenty.

I think ill hold off on replacing factory as they are eh alright right now... till i get a full kit.
