Ohio State Police

Hey,

Well actually most cops especailly state patrol cops are pricks.. but i think out of all of them Ohio has to be the worst one IMO...

We were driving down to Central City KY in our tractor trailer and we were right in the middle of Ohio in a group of 4 trucks all going the same speed and all of a sudden we hear on the CB that they caught the flatbed going southbound.. *WHICH WAS US*  now if you are really braking the speed limit i dont have a complaint because then its your fault.. But she wrote us down for

68 MPH   in a   65MPH   Ya thats right 3 miles over.. And we were 3rd in a group of 4 other trucks..

Unfortunately its not nice to say but the only reason why she pulled us over was because we had ontario plates.. if we had ohio plates *like the rest of the trucks* then she would have let it by..

Other than a stupid 80 dollar ticket the trip was great..

We left central city at 5:30 and got here at 6:30 in the morning..

I dont know if anyone from this board lives in or very near to Central City because i seen a lot of really nice chev and gmc trucks..

Anyway i thought i would post something since i havent in 3 days.. I m glad to be back.. started twitching when i didnt have access to the forum :)

**** ohio state troopers.

My uncle lives in mansfield (5 hr trip from here)

About 30-50 miles after i cross into the ohio border (from indiana) there is a rest stop.  Right after the rest stop is a speed trap.  There are a minimum 8 cops that sit in the middle of the road.  I have been there 3 times and they have always been there. Pulling people over.  Luckily i go like 55 in this area.  Then by my uncles they love to camp out.  i dont know whats up with them.  I know a guy who gets a ticket every time NAD I MEAN everytime he goes to ohio and each time its no more than 4mph over.

I have been pulled over (knock on wood) once and it was by an indiana state cop.  He let me go with a warning.  Very niice guy.  I got caught going 76 in a 55 (i was really going faster but i hit the brakes)

From what we heard on the CB all the way down is if you can avoid Ohio all together DO IT!!!

They all said they are the meaneast pricks in town and they are strict.. If we were by ourselves then they could probably get us but in a group of 4 all going the same speed and they nail us..  The lady looked like a miget too.. She had to have been right arond 4 feet tall..

Our driver just laughed when he got back in the truck.. He has to send her a check in a few weeks...

In ontario the limits are 100Kph the cops will let you off at 120 they start looking at you at 130...  We have gone by them at 140 and they didnt do anything.. They mainly look for the people who are weaving in and out of lanes..

I ll stay out of ohio next time i go down

actually, i lived in ohio (columbus) for 5 years and NEVER had a problem with the police there, and rarely went the speed limit.  I had more problems in PA and WV.

Well, like any group of people, some are good, some not so good.....remember though, this group spends an entire career making left hand turns on the interstate ............Its gotta affect your personality somewhat....!

they make enough of em.  I bet they need their tires rotated every 3-4 days

I live in an area down here in Texas where I have to take the highway to and from work. (sucks)  Well I got pulled over 3 times in one year for not having a front licence plate.  All by state troopers.  People were speeding and I wasn't and they pull me over.  To me that is a prick.. And I am not the only one with no front plate.

Hey ryan,  I was born in Galion and lived in Mansfield for 13 years.  Been in Texas ever since.

Mansfield kinda sucks not to much fun stuff to do.  Only real exciting thing down there is the gm stamping plant.  Luckily last time i went to visit my uncle my gf went with so it was enjoyable

There is a steel plant there that has been on strike for almost 2 yrs.

There are some nice houses also down there.

I left when I was 13 so I have no idea what there is to do.  We have been back a couple of times to visit.  We lived on the OSR property for 2 years.  Maybe that's why I never went into a life of crime.  It is very scary inside there.

I live just over the Ohio border in PA, and I don't know about all of Ohio, but around here the speed limit for cars is 65 mph and trucks or combos over 20k GVW is 55 mph.

I m not that sure where through Ohio where we got the ticket.. but the speed for all vehicles was 65..  And suprisingly with all the construction that we drove through I 75, I 71, I 65 sucked.. Talk about lose your lunch bumpy roads.. But i guess that will be fixed in there "BUSY" schedule..

One thing i love to do is drive to the states.. Just to be somewhere different than your used to is a blast..

Next trip is Bowling Green, were driving the vette down to the museum..

The only thing worst than the staties in Ohio is the construction.  There and PA.  Seems like for the 18 years I lived in Tennessee and drove up to Rochester NY to visit my grandparents, Ohio and PA interstates were torn up ALL the time.  I'm not talkin about once or twice, ALL the f****n' time.  What is going on with the roads there?? LOL

And you would think that all the time we drove down there and when we came back that with all the pilons, construction signs, slow down signs, and big electrical billboards that you could find one construction worker ??? Not one from I 75 all the way to the Blue Grass Parkway...

Talk about a waste of time and money!!!

kania, it is because they use blacktop instead of concrete and the interstates are very heavily traveled around there, the population centers are located just far enough apart to necessitate heavy ground traffic, but not to justify air traffic between them.

Hey Steve, 100 KMH is really not 60MPH but 61.5MPH... 90 KMH is really not 55MPH its 56.25MPH , 65MPH is really 104KMH... 105KMH is 65.6MPH they might round up to 66MPH.

Not trying to be anal about it but since the OHIO state troopers are pricks as u say, thought u should know.

Since you're Ontario plated, I take it you have KMS as your main scale on the speedo?

My 2 cents
