Can You Tell A 6.2l Truck From The Outside?

is there any 5.3 trucks with tailpipes straight out the back like the 6.2's?

Nope...(but if I am wrong someone will correct me  ) So I will take a stab at it and say nope, as far as factory is concerned, unless a hybrid or something is different.

Every 5.3L i've seen is side exit. Only 6.0L and 6.2L come straight out the back unless its a aftermarket or GMPP exhaust.

the 6.0 hybrid i believe comes out the back

If you have a sharp eye you can tell the 6.0/6.2 trucks by seeing the much larger rear axle pumpkin underneath.

Yep....9.5" rear-end instead of the 4.8/5.3's 8.625".

And if you can peek inside the rear wheel vent holes/openings you can look for rear disc brakes (Although not all 6.0 ext.cabs in '07-'08 had rear discs)

Interesting.... I am looking at a 2011 Sierra with a 6.2l I had not noticed the different differentials....... Nice upgraded the differentials for the bigger engines...

I believe only the Max trailering package gets you the 12 bolt pumpkin and 3.73's (which I do have in my truck). The non Max/NHT trucks with 6.2L and the 3.42's are the still 10 bolts......maybe... not totaly sure, but I think that's what I paid an extra grand for (max package)

I just thought maybe there where some 5.3 trucks with rear exit's, but it's nice to know there aren't.

I think the 6.2 with 3.42 still comes with the 9.5 14 Bolt Rear.

Yes,All 6.0/6.2 trucks have the 14-bolt 9.5" rear-end (You don't need to have the NHT pkg.)

*EDIT* I remembered on my way into work....Not all 6.2 trucks do have the 9.5" rear axle,AWD Sierra Denali's retain the 8.625" rear-end.

The 6.2 trucks also seem to have a huge diameter driveshaft, larger than 5.3 trucks.
