I'm wondering the following,

1) Suspesnion set up, looks stock or maybe leveled?

2)Tire/Rim size?

3) Exhaust?

Thanks,

what causes the locker to fail, better yet, how can you tell when its failed? does it just not work or does it seize the rear end or just make alot of noise or what?

I've had good luck with the G80 on both of my trucks, my 2006 Silverado and my V-Max both came with G80 lockers. I've done burnouts with both and hard driving. I haven't really babied my trucks. My transmission on my V-Max failed before the G80 locker, if it does give out I will add a Detroit Tru-Trac. And I also need to beef up my 4l70.

Mine messed up on my truck awhile back. I could still drive it, but every time I had to spin the tires on soft surfaces it would sound like it was coming apart. Not sure what really happened to it, but the dealership fixed it under warranty.

Best I can say is that the wheels look like 20" XD Monsters (see picture below). Looks leveled with 33's probably. Tires will be damn near impossible to figure out without asking the guy himself. If it has an exhaust system it isn't very loud. I do hear a slight rumble when he takes off. Debadged except for the "Silverado" "LT" on the back tailgate.

interesting, maybe some guys got a bad batch or something, all i know is when mine kicks in i can feel it and then the back end steps out, lol, but it also disengages very quickly where as one guy was saying his stays engaged. mine seems to unlock as soon as i let off the gas

on my 99 I started noticing issues when I was taking slow turns. The back end was binding and popping BAD. When it got into the shop they showed me what had happened.. it was not pretty. I was surprised it could even drive like that. The axle place that did the work showed me several other GMT-800s that were in there for the same problem, he said it was a common problem since Eaton developed a newer version of the G-80 in the late 90s. I'm not sure if anyone has had any issues with them on the GMT-900s.

What happened to your 4l70e? And what mileage did you have when it went out?
