AustinZ71 Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 I'm looking on cars.com for a 2009-2010 Crew Cab 6.2L but not having much luck. I see a few 6.0L listed but most of them show to be the Hybrid but some are not. Were there trucks sold with the 6.0L that were not Hybrids? I want a 6.2L BAD BAD BAD but I cannot locate one for a decent price.
[email protected] Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Yeah, the early ones were called vortec max. They came with an ly6, high compression 6.0l. They have pretty good power.
L76PWRD Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 I have a Vortec Max, with the 6.0l 4 speed auto. Non hybrid.
MS3DALE Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 I have a Vortec Max, with the 6.0l 4 speed auto. Non hybrid. Me too! And they actually were L76's
[email protected] Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Oh, sorry, I got the aluminum l76 confused with the HD cast iron ly6. And sorry, bad info. The l76 is NOT high compression. It only is 9.6:1, but it makes it's hp from the l92/l76 heads on it.
L76PWRD Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 I have a Vortec Max, with the 6.0l 4 speed auto. Non hybrid. Me too! And they actually were L76's Yep in 2007 GMT-900 they were L76. From 2004-2006 GMT-800 they were the LQ9.
[email protected] Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Actually the 2003 SS's had lq9 in them, also. And they were high compression(10.1:1).
L76PWRD Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Actually the 2003 SS's had lq9 in them, also. And they were high compression(10.1:1). Yeah, the Vortec High Output & Vortec Max trucks had that engine too. The Cadillac Escalade had it too.
[email protected] Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 The 2005 VHO, I'd like to have one of those.
L76PWRD Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 The 2005 VHO, I'd like to have one of those. Yeah, I like those they only came in extended cab standard bed with 20s.
06sierravmax Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Correction. The LQ9 was put into 04-07 Silverados and Sierras. The SS got it from 03-07. A lot of people forget that 07 was the transition year and the OBS was still being made and it was called the Classic. I have a Vortec Max, with the 6.0l 4 speed auto. Non hybrid. Me too! And they actually were L76's Yep in 2007 GMT-900 they were L76. From 2004-2006 GMT-800 they were the LQ9.
AustinZ71 Posted December 9, 2010 Author Posted December 9, 2010 Thanks guys. I thought I saw some '09 Trucks that were 6.0L but I guess they were Hybrid and just removed the badges or something.
AustinZ71 Posted December 9, 2010 Author Posted December 9, 2010 Here is an example: http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp?t...mp;aff=national
Stevens03 Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 In 2009, GM dropped the Vmax badges because the 6.2L was making it's way into the 1500's. Its still a vmax... with the 6.0L and if it has the 6-speed, its a dang nice combination. Ran the vin on this website, looks like a nice truck and it does have the 6-speed with 3.42 gears. http://www.compnine.com/vid.php?vin=3GTEC23Y89G203639
[email protected] Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Wow, that's a great site. I never knew about that, I had to run mine also. Mine. Just out of curiosity, of course.
