Stock Air Upgrade

Hey, I know on 06 GTO's (which i just sold recently) there was a couple holes you could drill in the stock air intake to increase horsepower equal to or greater than that of aftermarket cai. just wondering if there is something similar that can be done to a 07 silverado.

you won't gain a damn thing end of story...all CAI gains from tests are done at wide open throttle, unless your going to drive everday with a brick on the pedal you won't see any gains and just have a lighter wallet

CAI = more noise, less MPG.. expensive mod for noise and more donations to the gas companies..

besides, it's a truck.. drill holes in the air box means you could be sucking water into the intake.. most people don't drive their cars thru water, but most truck owners do...

cause they can..

For the most part, CAI do not add any HP, but they do sound cool. I was watching one test once and a CAI actually took away 1HP. A clean factory air filter added a horsepower and an Amsoil filter added 1.5 HP. Frankly not enough to make a difference.

Having said that if you own one of the vehicles with a poorly designed air intake they can actually add quite a bunch. I remember a K&N adding 26HP to a 5.9 1998 grand cherokee. I think most of the jeep porducts have similiarly poorly flowing, but not the GM's, they all work very well.
