2010 Remote Start

So, I've never had a remote start before, but this truck came with one. I've used it a couple times and it seems to be completely useless!! Nothing comes on in side at all until you put the key in. So what's the point?? The only reason I would use it, is to save a few minutes of sitting inside it waiting for the windows to defrost enough to drive . . . . .

are you turning off your heat/ac controls when you leave the truck?? You have to leave the climate control ON for the system to heat or cool the vehicle in remote start mode.

I have auto climate control, and always leave them on, and every time I use remote start it turns fan on and starts warming or cooling to set temp

I never leave my auto climate control on and it comes on anyways with remote start.

 

I think you may need to make a trip to the dealership

depends on how long you let it warm up. It won't start blowing air until the engine warms up to a certain temp.

 

Kind of like if you have it set on "auto" and you just get in and start driving... the heat won't turn on until you get a few miles down the road, then it'll start blowing full blast with warm air.

I've noticed that on colder mornings (that's a relative term since I live in California), if I let the truck sit for close to 10 minutes, the heater will be blowing almost warm air(this is with the climate control on AUTO) and the seat warmers will be on. On warmer mornings, neither happens.

Yes, they are on. Nothing works til the key is put in. Radio/lights/heat. Maybe I will need to hit the dealership. Damn.

Know what else doesn't work right? The light on the clock. Sometimes it comes on, sometimes it doesn't. Told the dealer and they said it's the whole radio and that is not them???? I have to wait til it is completely broken??? huh???

If the light doesn't work correctly, tell them you want it fixed. If they won't help find another dealer, or go to GM customer service.

 

With the new GM, I believe any brand dealer can now service your truck. I take my GMC to a Chevy dealer.

that is by design. none of the electronics work until you put the key in. it keeps the bad guys from stealing your truck. The owner's manual tells you that.
