Level Kit Differences

Recommended Posts

Why do some level kits put the spacer on top of the strut and others put the spacer on the bottom of the strut? I also saw one that used a combo of 2 spacers with 1 on top of the strut and the 2nd on the bottom.

Is there a difference where the spacer is placed and why do some use 2 spacers (1 on top and 1 on bottom of strut)?

Thinking about getting a spacer for the front and a slightly taller block for the rear. Thanks

Can't answer your question but today is the day to order the level kit.

Rough Country has the 2" level on sale for like 38.00 plus shipping.

That is by far the most popular level kit and that is a great deal probably won't last long.

Thanks, I did see that and that's when I did some searching to see if it had good reviews. I noticed the different ways the level was acheived with different companys and started wondering if one way was better than another.

Yeah I'm not tech savy enough to explain or even know the difference between the two types.

But I do know that's the one everyone suggest. Its just a spacer so its not really a difference it the manufacturer's but RC has the best price.

I would definitely order the RC tonight at the sale price if it was me looking for one.

I'm sure everyone else will agree.

Yeah I just ordered the 2" Rough Country front level kit. Can't beat $48 including shipping. I guess it probably doesn't matter where the spacer is. Now I need to find a 1" rear lift block. Thanks Brad

Good call ordering it.

Functionally there is no difference between upper and lower spacers.

With a lower spacer the design limit is 2" before the bolts start getting too long.

With upper spacers you can go over 2".... BUT to reduce manufacturing costs most companies go with a split spacer which utilizes factory hardware (except for new nuts for the top). Other companies that use only a top spacer require cutting studs and have to provide a spacer that's an assembly of parts with new studs as opposed to a simple cnc machined plate.

To the user (you)... there's really no benefit to one kit over another except for achieving the height you want at the best price.
