Skid Plates Gmt900

Recommended Posts

My new GMT900 is prettu bare bones. I need to add some skid plates. I think the OEM plates are around $150. Does anyone know how many peices it comes with and what it protects?

Is there better after market plates that would be a similar price range?

Does anyone know if the OEM plates are just bolt-on and I could do this myself with minimum home garage tools?

Thanks,

Mine came with the skid plates. so far I found one, near the oil pan in the front, I think it's about three bolts should take you 5 minutes to put on once the truck is in the air. I believe the holes will already be there for you.

If anyone knows where the other supposed skid plates that came with it feel free to chime in, as I only saw one when I was under there.

The one you're talking about with the 3 bolts is on every truck, which is plastic. The 2 skid plates that you can get covers the oil pan and transfer case, 4 bolts each. The holes are already there. My truck didn't come with them either. I ordered both plates and bolts from GM. They bolted right up with no issues.

How much did you pay for those two plates and bolts?

Don't remember for sure, but I think it was a little over $100 a couple of years ago. I can get you some part numbers later if you would like.
