New U-joint Wont Fit

Hello I just finished installing a front and rear u joint on the drive shaft of my C1500. the u-joints fit in the drive shaft well but when i went to attach the rear u-joint to the yolk on the differential the bearing caps fit in the yolk well but the clamps did not tighten against the bearing caps allowing them to move around and potentially fly off. there is about a 1/16th or more gap between the cap and the clamp. are the bearing caps wrong or are the clamps worn?

Have you doubled check the part numbers? You don't say what truck you have. If I can remember right the regular cab take a joint that is 1.88 o.d. and the ext. cab takes a 1.125 o.d joint. Double check with your jobber and make sure you have the right ones.
