Sierra Wiper Problem

Hello everyone I have a 2000 Sierra 2500, the drivers side window wiper stopped working. It looks like it tries to move but just can't. If I help it, it does seem to work but cant do it on it's own. So my main questions are: Are there only one wiper motor? The passenger side works fine so if there is only one motor that wouldn't be it right? Okay that was my only question, does anyone have other ideas? Thanks for your help in advance.

According to a 2000 parts diagram, you only have one wiper motor and mechanical linkage that connects

it to both wipers. You have a linkage problem or the drivers side wiper arm is slipping on the shaft.

You should be able to look in the vent between the hood & windshield & see the linkage and take the drivers side

wiper arm off the shaft to see if it is OK.

It would cost the Mfr a fortune to have two motors and try to synchronize them electrically so the blades don't

run into one another.

 

You can go to any OEM parts house online and it will show U the parts of the wiper system

under the windshield category.
