No Start

OK, I've spent half an hour reading "won't start" posts, and found my exact problem in a 2 1/2 year old post with no answers. When I turn the key the gear indicator says the tranny is in second, the doors try to unlock, and the engine does not even try to start. No change when I try shifting to neutral, which is tricky, because the gear indicator never moves off second. I had it towed, and the mechanics had just enough time to try a new neutral safety switch before going home. That did not work. If anyone knows what this is, I'm curious. If not, I'll post the answer after I pay for it.

 

I can't see a cursor while typing in this forum, and can't edit except by backspacing and retyping until I "preview post". Can this be fixed, or do I just have to go directly to "preview post"?

Neutral Safety Switch. The mechanic said he forgot he had to reset something. That's why it didn't work the first time.

Yep, had this happen a few times on customers trucks, but I can't think of what your tech would have had to reset. Glad you got it fixed easily.
