New Rims And Tires Need Alignment? Help!

Hey guys,

 

I ordered new rims and tires a few weeks ago and Im about to get them installed on Saturday. I paid a flat fee for the mounting balancing and install of the tires. Im trying to figure out if i need a wheel alignment after the new set.

Im in a 2010 sierra crew cab with stock 20's. Im going to a 20"x9 fuel octane rim with a 275 55 20 sized michelin tire (same tiresize as the old car). Basically im adding an inch of width to the rim. My car currently tracks straigh and fine and there is no abnormal tire wear on my stock tires. Question is do i still need to do a wheel alignment? My guy is telling me no- but im under the impression he doesnt wanna spend the money to do it since he would have to outsource that part of the job and we already agreed upon a straight labor price. Anyone with any advice? If this is the case I want to stop doing business with this guy and go elsewhere.

I've never had an alignment done on my 2004 and I've run four different rim and tire combos on it. Unless you notice wear or pulling issues, I wouldn't think you would need an alignment.

when i got 20x9's put on mine the guy at the shop said it wouldnt change anything

You probably don't need one, but for peace of mind you could at least have it checked and if it's good you'll be reassured.

You don't need an alignment due to the wheels and tires... so dont worry about it.

 

BUT, to protect your investment it couldn't hurt to have the alignment checked.... especially if you've never had one done. Once all the springs and everything settles on a new truck, its worth getting the alignment checked to make sure its still in spec.
