Using Diesel Muffler On Gas Motor

I apologize if this a foolish question, but I'm still a bit new.

 

 

My dreams of buying Corsa muffler seem to be vanishing rapidly due to the fact there almost impossible to find and with corsa discontinuing the line really doesnt make things any easier.

 

I know Corsa does still offer ( i think ) there Diesel line of DB mufflers.

 

Is there any difference in design other than the fact the in and outs are 4''?

 

Is there any reason I can't use a diesel muffler on my gas 5.3, reduce the in and outs and build my exhaust?

 

I would 100% go and buy the Corsa sport system, but Corsa does not offer a dual side split system.

 

If anyone knows a bit more about the topic, or knows a link of where I could obtain some more info that would be very helpful.

You could buy a dual side split from any other company and then add a Corsa muffler. I myself would buy the muffler I want then take it to a shop and have them build it for. My exhaust cost $250 plus what I paid for the muffler and they did it just like I wanted.

The lack of enough back pressure with a 4" muffler will lower back pressure and raise the torque band and decrease fuel economy,bottom end torque and overall driveability. Replace the muffler with a similar inlet and outlet size to retain performance.

do not put anything over 3'' even a 3'' is pushing it. you will not like it. a performance shop actually would NOT install a 3'' muffler and pipes on my truck because i will lose a great deal of torque. you will not be happy with the 4'' muffler.

thanks for the help guys, I appreciate the advice. I think it might be time to choose a different brand, that was kind of my last idea.

 

but if anyone does know if there are any Corsa's still kickin around, I would be interested.

check auto anything.com or similar businesses, with huge warehouses. they must have something kicking around for you.

 

you could also contact corsa and see if they have any laying around in one of there dealers warehouse

I can buy a New Corsa muffler that was sold for a Diesel I think.
