Front End Replacement Questions

Recommended Posts

Ive always built front end replacements for all of my trucks. Living around here, Im paranoid about animal strikes, especially feral hogs. Ive built a few that resenble the Ranch Hand style front ends with the 4" pipe bumper and brush gurad. However, the 4" pipe is heavy. So now I style them after the Buckstop style bumpers and they end up being a little lighter. But, I have always had HD pickups, except fo my S10, so strength of the front end was not a big issue. Now that I have a 1500, Im concerned about the front end holding up with the extra weight and a key lift.

Im going to lift my truck with some new keys and I want to make sure it can handle the extra 150 - 175 lbs Im planning on putting on it. What do you guys think?

Most of the aftermarket front bumpers (Fab Fours, Road armor) wieght about 185 pounds. I would guess the stock one weight around 100 so your really not adding that much wieght. The front will hold up fine.
