Hi, I have a 2007 Silverado Classic showing code P0449. It's described as a "solenoid circuit condition". As this is emissions related, would this be covered under my bumper-to-bumper warranty?

Should be powertrain warranty. Could call the dealer and ask for sure.

Thanks for the reply. I did call the dealer and got the standard "Well, it COULD be under warranty, but we won't know until we do a $112 diagnostic. Then, when we find out what's wrong, we call GM to determine if it's covered or not".

They can look on GM's website to see if its under warranty. All they need to know is time and milage. Evap should be powertrain warranty. I can understand the diagnosis. Thats always how it works. If its a parts failure they will take care of you.

If they fix it and it is indeed under powertrain warranty, am I still on the hook for the diagnostic charge?

Another poster on here went through the same thing. It might be covered, of course it wasn't and he had to pay. So be prepared.

IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER POWERTRAIN, it is considered emissions. I believe that warranty ends at 36K miles or 3 years. If so, do yourself a favor and go to NAPA, have them pull the part for a 2006 Chevy Suburban. This will be the exact replacement to your Fuel vent evap soleonoid. Cost is 25 to 30 dollars, and if your read through the posts on this topic, you will find instructions on how to replace. Takes 15- 30 minutes, and you will need to read the instructions on the additional piece of hose and hose clamps, as you WILL need those also, due to the fact that you will trash the old heated plastic hose when disassembling the part. I think the NAPA part number is listed here in the posts too, can't remember. Or you can actually go directly to a chevy dealer, and ask them for the suburban part. Same price around 25 bucks. Search P0449 to get to the post on this issue. There is a wealth of info on this .....
