2002 5.3l Fuel Injector Plug Removal (w/flex Fuel)

I feel silly asking this question, but how in the world do you remove the fuel injector plugs on a 2002 Yukon with 5.3L Flex Fuel Engine. I dont want to force anything so I dont mess them up. It actually says press/slide on the side of the plug but you cannot press anything where it says press. Please help. Such a simple task is taking so much time, LOL. I think these have the CPA Connector Position Assurance plugs on them. These plugs are different than the ones without Flex Fuel.

WOW!! Finally figured the plugs out. I even went to Oriely and looked at an injector but that didn't help. I guess no one has experienced these plugs. I have never seen any like them. GM must have some sort of special tool. There is a double latch on these. The outter latch keeps the main latch from being unlatched. I had to grind a pair of needle nose plyers to be able to unlatch the outter latch. You have to unlatch the grey plastic piece with the ground needle nose then slide it up. Once you slide it up it allows you to press on the top of the grey piece and it will unlatch the second black part of the latch. Unbelievable. This added about three more hours to my knock sensor replacement job.

instead of needle nose pliers I used a pair of angled hemostats to squeeze the inner clips, then the grey plastic slid up to dis-engage the lower clip, remove the hemostats, - almost like I knew what I was doin'

Doing mine today, Thanks for the tip on the injector wire release. Mine is not FLex fuel but worked just like yours. One Note, a small screw driver inserted into the grey piece slot at the bottom of the connector will allow you to slide the grey lock up. Then like you I was able to squeeze the Grey top and release the black part of the injector wire and remove the plug
