It's just a little chilly here in Toronto too....down here for the weekend.

Yeah...woke up this morning to -29c.

But I got a ride to the bus instead of waiting outside in the code.

It's supposed to warm up this week, around -10c. That's not too bad this time of year.

our coldest this year was -24 last night ....i went for a sled ride and when i came home, my jacket was covered in frost lol

Your lucky! This year I've gone out once. None of the trails are open near my house.

-40C is the crossover point isn't it? For us who think in Farenheit it would be -40F as well. That is COLD by any measurement. It hit +31F here today, thats much more tolerable as far as I'm concerned. Keep warm guys!

I was in Marathon Ontario last week for work and on Wednesday the dash thermometer on our new GMC Yukon XL SLT rental said outside temperature -32c ... and on top of that the wind was blowing ... it was COLD !!! :)

... but in Auto 4wd on the Yukon we were able to stay on the slippery snowy road very nicely ...., while many other vehicles and transport trucks were taking nose dives into the ditch ....

Curious, what are timmies and timbits? Canadian slang?

My youngest daughter is in the UK. Some of their expressions are hard to keep a straight face. We had Spotted Dick for dessert one meal.

My dad was from Winnipeg, he told stories about the cold like peeing and it freezing before it hit the ground.

The coldest I've experienced was -24F and that was cold enough especially when the blower motor on the gas furnace decided it was overworked and quit. Thank goodness for gas stoves or all the pipes would have froze. Rick

Timmies is coffee from Tim Horton's coffee/donut shop ... the original TimHorton's is in North Bay Ontario. Tim Horton's sofar is pretty much a Canadian thing ... very popular coffee/donut chain all across the country. Soon to be in a US city near you!

TimBits is what they call their donut holes ... a small piece of donut dough deepfried

Tim Horton (..for those of us old enough to remember..) was a rough & tough NHL hockey player for the Toronto Maple Leafs ...
