I've noticed the H11 headlight lamps in the 2010+ trucks, where as the older trucks used the 9005 lamp. are they that much different ?

Since 2007 the GMT 900 uses the H11 as the low beam and the 9005 as the high beam.

OK, so what is the difference between the H11 & the 9005 ?

my GMC Denali uses 9005 hi and low, with different lenses.

I have a 2010 1500 , which one's do I have ?

anyway, they look "almost" like the HIDs on my Lexus, so much that I don't plan on upgrading them ..

The lamps are similar but the H11 offers a longer rated lamp life. 500 vs 150 hours. The H11 is a 55 watt bulb where the 9005 is 60 watt. Each has a different base which probably prevents them from being interchangeable, but I don't have direct experience with the H11 to know that for sure.

www.donsbulbs.com is a great source of information for a wide range of lamps.

H11 easily converts to H9. Did it myself. Google it, not hard at all to do. Just need to remove about 8mm of plastic on one tab. H11 = 1350 Lumen and H9 = 2100 Lumen.
