Stock Cd Player

Hey guys this is my first post and to bad it has to be with a problem. I just recently purched a 2007 GMC Sierra MAX from a reputable used car lot out of LA. Everything about this truck has been great except for one problem i have found (besides the 6.0 :D ) I went to pop my First CD into the CD player and after 30 sec of it trying to read it, the screen then said "Disc Error" so i figured ok a burnt disc maybe i messed up burning it. SO I then went and grabbed a normal un burned true legit CD and popped it ASSUMING it would work but again after 30 sec i saw a "Optical Error" message. I then tried one last time with a different original copy legit CD (heart beating nervously) and failed again seeing a "Disc Error" message.

So now I don't know what to do. my truck came from the factory with a DVD player/CD player(two different drives), and my DVD Drive is doing all the work right now luckily. Any one have this same problem?? I'm I SOL??. what should i do?? I REFUSE to get a aftermarket unit b/c i love the stock one.

Thanks in advance.

It may be a shot in the dark, but if the dealer you got your truck from is as reputable as you say, I'd go back to him and see if he will help you out. It may be that there's dirt on the optical and just needs to be cleaned. Either way, I'd at least contact them and see what they say.

thanks redsled. I'm going to them a call this in the next day or so. just don't know if its worth the drive in gas all the way to LA as I live in SoCal specifically Santee/ El Cajon Area.

They make cd drive cleaning discs they are just like a normal cd but have a little brush on the bottom for cleaningany dust and debris from inside your drive. You used to be able to find them pretty much everywhere like walmart, radioshack, target so I would give one ofthem a shot I haveused them a few times and they work wonders.

Im probably the bearer of bad news but im on my 5th stock radio in my 09. The last one put in has been good but after the fourth and complaining thru GM costumer service they put the 6 disk changer in and i have it logged in that work done that if that one fails, they will put the nav unit in. Also warranted the radio to 100K.

So f I'm understanding as a last resort GM will Replace it??? if so for how much?? should i even bother calling the dealer from which i bought the truck, or do i just go to a GM Dealer. Sorry for all the question, but music is a very big part of my driving experience.

My guess is that his 09 was/is still covered under bumper to bumper warranty. You can purchase a new head unit but they are not the cheapest. I just replaced my single disc to the 6 disc changer. Contacting GM most likely won't do any good. Try cleaning the H/U with a cleaning cd or contact the dealer where you bought it.

Hey guys, a little update i tried the CD with the small little brushes on it and after seeing two screens that said "Disc Error" and another two that said "Optical Error"(the cleaning disk didn't play like it did in my DVD drive). I think i have come to the conclusion that the drive is bad and needs to be replace. What are some of my options? Kinda stated to look around and found this http://www.scosche.com/car-audio/product/1679. But I'm confused is this the whole in dash unit or just the blue tooth thing. Will this cancel my DVD drive to?? Any other opinions are MORE then welcome.
