Clutch Or Trans?

Hi all,

I have a 4.3 5 speed 1/2 ton and I am trying to diagnose a noise. Basically, there is a noise coming from under the shifter, pretty pronounced at high RPM but not so much at lower RPM. Sounds like rocks in a can. Is there some way to test this to tell whether the noise is from the clutch, internal to the trans, or something else? Just looking for a basic diagnostic procedure.

  Of course that would be false. You could have had one welded into your stock pan if you could find someone who did TIG welding.

  I was recently given a cheap winch for my trailer and I’m going to build a front receiver hitch so that I can use it on my truck also. It is a 13,500lb Sinoking winch with synthetic rope and wireless remote. It is mounted on a Badland hitch mount. The lower plastic was removed from my truck several years ago when I built a custom tube framed skid plate for it. The hitch will be tucked up close to the bumper and hopefully I can add a 2” square tube to the back of the skid plate to fit it into the hitch to hide the hitch when it’s not being used. More pictures to come.

  Hi All, I am curious whether using the dashboard display for transmission fluid temperature is considered acceptable when setting the transmission fluid level after a pan drop, filter replacement, and fill. I have a 2021 gas/6L90. Thanks

  Every place on the hi-way is up , lowest is the truck stop, $3.93/ 87, the others haven't broken the $4 barrier yet but getting damned close. Lowest diesel $5.73. I haven't checked local yet but I bet they are over the $4 mark. I've been shopping for a type C motorhome and trying not to buy a Ford, found a couple diesels but the price of fuel is scary
