Thinking Or Trading My 2010 Awd Sierra Denali

Hi all.

I am asking you guys if you think this is a good idea.

I have had my 2010 Sierra Denali for 7 months and it has 6000 miles on the clock.

See my sig for its current accessories

I emailed the dealer I bought it from with the question of

"How much will you give me on trade for my 2010 SD for a 2011 SD HD?"

I just got a reply.

He said they will only give me $37K for my truck. (I paid $44K in June 2010)

New truck:

$61089.00 (MSRP)

- $3100 (repeat customer discount so he says)

_________

$57987 (Price before taxes and rebates)

Incentives:

$2000 cash back

$1000 if I finance at least $5000 with Ally

$1000 Owner Loyalty

-----------

$4000 total incentives

Bottom line before taxes

$53987

Specs of truck

2011 Sierra Denali HD 4x4

• 6.6L Duramax/Allison

• Onyx Black/Light Cashmere

• Navi/DVD

• 20” wheels

• Sunroof

• Rear camera

• Heated steering wheel

• 6” oval steps

• Rear power sliding window

$12,000 cash down + $5000 financed with Ally, the truck is mine.

BTW. The 2010 SD is paid for.

Why? Do you need the Dmax?

To be perfectly honest, no I don't really NEED the Duramax, but I just love that drive train, and its torque.

I do tow a friends boat a few times in the summer which is ~8000 lbs. Its always great to have a friend with a boat, rather than owning one :)

Secondly, I want selectable 4x4 vs AWD, and the bigger stance that the 2500 chassis offers.

I have in no way made the decision to make this trade. I am only toying with the idea and my dealer.

agreed with stevens11, and from the sounds of it you are loaded(paying a 2010 off already), so why the hell not? id jump all over that deal.

I love the looks of the SD HD, so I say if you can afford it, go for it! :)

$7100 off a new truck is a pretty weak discount certainly for you giving them your trade for a pretty good price. $17k upcharge doesn't sound all that great. The Duramax/Allison combo is awesome, but it's not like the 6.2/6A is a bad combo either. If you don't tow frequently, the D/A combo is overkill IMO.

You only live once. If you have the wallet for it, go for it. It will feel like a whole different experience towing with the 2500. It will handle the boat much, much better and probably return similar MPG's.

I agree with pretty much everyone else. If you've got the cash, I say go for it. I love my 2011 1500 with the 6.2 and with the very few miles I drive/little towing I do I most certainly don't need a diesel, but IF I had some extra disposable income to spend on a little bigger truck I would've done it, just because. Think of it as keeping the economy up and keeping the workers in the truck plant and out of the unemployment line. That in and of itself, my friends, is priceless :)
