MAGNAFLOWS

I am geting ready to change the muffler on my 2001 3/4 ton truck. I was considering Magnaflows with a cross-over. Any feed back would be great. I'm looking for a good sound not to loud in the cab, and some performance gains would be good too. :uhoh:

tinman,

Just put a Magnaflow catback on my Lightning and am impressed with fit and finish.  It is stainless steel with polished muffler and tips.  The 5 x 8 x 14" muffler has an internal cross over and is not too loud, quieter than most if thats what your looking for.

Try www.exhaustproslinc.com for great pricing.

I have 3" catback with a Magnaflow and I really like it.  I have had Flowmasters in the past and the performance of the Magnaflow is far better in my opinion.  I really like the sound too.  has a bit deeper tone to it.  Flowmaster has that droning sound at about 2100rpm that gets annoying after a while.  Get the Magnaflow, you wont be sorry.

You are on the right track Tinman!!!  No matter what exhaust you buy it is a great idea to have a crossover pipe, or a 2-in 2-out muffler.  That should really help out more on the bottom end of the power range.

I like them so much, I put 2 on the truck. I also have an Magnaflow X-Pipe. There are pics on my Modification page in my sig link.

As I've said before, I talked to a guy who flow and power  tested glass pack's, flowmasters, DynoMax's best (something turbo), and Magnaflows, and he said it goes like this:

1.Magnaflow

2.Dynomax's best(forgot the name)

3.Glass pack

4.Flowmaster

I really like that setup.  That is kinda what I was thinking of going with.  I just want to be sure I don't loose my low end...

I think 2 1/4 are the smallest they go, get those, that'll create the most backpressure, I doubt with 2 1/4 you'd lose ANY low end.
