Other year/model truck's wiper motor work?

Recommended Posts

I think I need a new wiper motor for my '95 half ton.  What other year trucks or models (such as suburban/tahoe/yukon?) will work for mine?  The wipers come one when I turn them on, but the delay doesn't work, they just go one speed, plus they don't stop when I shut them off.  They keep going for a while and usually stop up in the air or whatever.  Help please!  ;)

There is a TSB for this, but it only covers certain VIN's.  Take your VIN to a local GM dealer and have them see if it qualifies.  If it doesn't you just need to repair the solder on the board.

Do a search through the forums here and at pickuptruck.com and you will find quite a few threads about this .....

Cool, thanks for the input.  I should've known to search first.  wtf was I thinking.  :jester:  What's a TSB btw?  Also, in the search, I'll look for instructions on the soldering, but if I don't find it, I'll holla back.  I'll need to know what to solder to what.  So this means I should findout before buying a new motor, right?  I'd hate to go buy one, and then not need it or have that not be my problem.  Laters.

I'll 95% gaurantee you that it is a bad board and not the motor itself.  You should be able to remove the board and look at it.  The culprit is generally an external solder, and you should be able to see the crack in it.  You can try to add more solder or melt off the existing solder and add a new wire before resoldering it.

Kickass.  Now that I've searched, I can't beleive all the posts with ppl who've had problems such as I do with the wipers.  Those things must've really sucked there for awile.   :)   I'll do that probably tomorrow or Wed for sure, and that should fix it.  Thanks for gettin my back guys!   :jester:  :thumb:
