2007 2500 Suburban 4wd Fuel System Issues...

Has anyone else experienced issues with the vehicle prematurely shutting down/acting like it is out of fuel when the gauge on the dash clearly shows a 1/4 tank of fuel left? It has happened twice on our trip out west and luckily we carry fuel in our trailer. The weird thing is is that when I pour the 6 gallons in from the container it brings the gauge up to a 1/2 tank and the truck starts right up again... Very uneasy feeling not being able to use much more than a 1/2 of our tank when only getting 5.9 miles to the gallon towing into the strong Dakota winds in the middle of the night!

Any help/others experiences would be much appreciated!

My DIC shows gallons used and it is usually very close to what I put in when I finally fill up.

The gauge will have been on "E" and the low fuel light on for a whole day of driving and I'll still only squeeze in 34 or 35 gallons, which will be very close to what the DIC says I have used.

I reset it at every fill-up and it will say I've used +/- 1/2 gallon of what I actually put in so I know that's close.
