Well the rod bearings are bad, it has been diagnosed as the #2 cylinder's bearings. I have an extended warrenty with a $100 deductable, so it shouldn't be to bad. Except, they and the dealership want me to authorize a $400 teardown authorization in case the warrenty company rejects the claim. I just got this Blazer on December 6th, I don't know what I'm going to do yet, if I sell it now I'm in the hole for about $1500-2000. Anyone been in a situation like this before? What did you do?

I was in pretty much the same situation last year when my 5.7 went tits up.

The Chevy Service Dept told me that they had to tear down the engine and the ext warranty guy had to look at it to cover it. I was told that if they rejected it, I was liable. I knew that I had done my part as far as maintenance and upkeep and I showed the service manager all my reciepts from oil changes, etc.

I told them to go for it and it worked out to my benefit.

If you have properly maintained the vehicle, I'd say you're okay.

You posted that you just bought this Blazer a little over a month ago. Did you buy it from a dealer and then get the extended warranty, or was it a private sale with the warranty in place? If it was a dealer sale, how much could you have abused the thing in one month (realistically)?

Sorry, I just reviewed your post in the Engine section. Can't your svc mgr tell you whether or not the busted oil line would be covered? That may be the key to the whole thing.

My engine was pulled a few hours ago. It needs a new crankshaft and bearings. Extended Warrenty company wants the pre delivery inspection report. I've had the truck for 6 weeks, the warrenty came with it, there is no way they can deny this claim, right?
